The Week Ahead - End of Term 1 2025
From the Head of College
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome to the final newsletter for Term 1. Reflecting on our Strategic Plan: Towards 2026, and 2025 Annual Plan has reminded me of how busy and productive these past 10 weeks have been. This term has seen the commencement of Stage 1 of our Master Plan, a thriving and growing Sports Program with outstanding results, preparations for our upcoming Musical, the first wave of college camps, NAPLAN assessments, navigating the arrival of Cyclone Alfred, Term 1 report writing and the ongoing implementation of our Contemporary Learning philosophy. A special congratulations to our Prep and Year 7 students on completing their first term of primary and high school 鈥 a significant milestone in their educational journey!
Through it all, Term 1 has reaffirmed to me what an incredibly trusting, flexible and resilient community we are at 暗夜成人视频. Our 2025 College theme of Three Histories, One Future has guided us as we begin planning deeply for the relocation of our Early Learning Services and Junior Campuses in 2026.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, who have embraced and guided the many changes within our college with incredible energy and unwavering commitment. Their focus on delivering the best learning experiences and pastoral care for our students is truly inspiring.
As we close this term, I want to reflect on a valuable lesson for both parents and educators: the importance of saying 鈥淣o鈥 without feelings of guilt. As caregivers, we often walk the fine line between nurturing children and setting necessary boundaries. It鈥檚 natural to feel guilty when denying a request, but the truth is that saying 鈥渘o鈥 is an essential part of raising resilient, well-adjusted individuals.
Why Saying 鈥淣o" Matters:
- Teaching Limits: Helps children understand that they can鈥檛 always have what they want and teaches self-control.
- Promoting Independence: Constantly giving in prevents children from developing problem-solving skills and learning to cope with frustration. Saying "no" allows them to find alternative solutions and build resilience.
- Ensuring Safety: Some "no鈥檚" are non-negotiable for their well-being.
- Developing Respect: Learning to accept boundaries fosters healthy relationships.
- Maintaining Your Own Well-Being: Overextending ourselves to meet every demand leads to exhaustion. Setting limits benefits both children and caregivers.
How to Say "No" Effectively:
- Be Clear and Consistent: Use direct language and stand by your decision.
- Provide Age-Appropriate explanations: While you don't need to justify every "no," providing a brief, age-appropriate explanation can help children understand the reasoning behind your decision.
- Acknowledge Feelings: Validate their disappointment while maintaining the boundary.
- Offer Alternatives: Redirect their focus with another option.
- Stand Firm: Once you've said "no," stick to your decision. Avoid giving in to tantrums or persistent pleading, as this reinforces negative behaviour.
- Separate the behaviour from the child: Focus on actions rather than making it personal.
Let Go of the Guilt:
Saying "no" is not an act of unkindness. It equips children with the tools they need to navigate life鈥檚 challenges while also ensuring that we, as caregivers, maintain balance in our own lives. [Acknowledgement: Jefferson Parish School]
This afternoon, the college community took a moment to slow down, reflect and celebrate the true meaning of Easter. Thank you to Mrs. Heuschele, Mr. Miegel and Mrs. Minnikin for looking after these services across our campuses.
As we head into the term break, I wish every family a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday away from the routines of school life. May your Easter celebrations be filled with joy, reflection and togetherness.
I look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of Term 2.
Yours in Christ

As Term 1 draws to a close it is important to look back and reflect on the incredible achievements for our students, staff and college community. From academics to sports and extracurricular activities, this term has been filled with success and excitement. The school holiday break provides all students with an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate whilst appreciating the many opportunities available.
This year, our college has emphasised the importance of practicing gratitude and happiness. Happiness is a term that captures a huge variety of positive emotions such as humour, serenity, optimism, joy, pride, inspiration, love and hope. Happiness means different things to different people and is essential to your understanding of emotional literacy. Throughout history, philosophers, religious writers and poets have pondered the meaning of happiness and how it might be achieved. In the last few decades, scientists and psychologists have researched this further by studying a field of science called positive psychology.
This research suggests a strong correlation between gratitude and greater happiness. Practicing gratitude helps you shift your focus to positive memories or experiences, noticing the good in your life. Over time, this will rewire your brain to create new neural pathways, increasing your state of happiness and overall well-being.
As we enter the school holiday period, we encourage our college community to access the School TV resources below to learn how to achieve happiness and the benefits of practicing gratitude.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered through School TV, and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the Pastoral Care Team for further information or seek medical or professional help. Have a great break, and we look forward to a prosperous Term 2.
Take care,
Mr Tony Manteufel

As we wrap up Term 1, it's time to look back on the wonderful moments we've shared over the past two weeks. We've had a busy and exciting time here at 暗夜成人视频, and there's so much to celebrate!
First off, what a fantastic Garden Gala we had! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make it such a memorable event. I hope more of our parents, grandparents and friends come along to our next Parent Connect social event. You will not be disappointed!
Our Autumn Leaves Soloist Concert was another standout. The talent displayed by our young musicians was wonderful. It's always special to see our students shine and share their hard work with us in such a meaningful way.
We also hosted our Japanese Study Tour. This was a chance for some of our students to dive deep into Japanese culture and language. The memories and friendships they鈥檝e brought back are sure to last. A huge thanks to our boarding community for once again being so friendly and open to our young visitors. Also, thank you to Josh Biscoe for organising sports activities for the students and Katie Nicholas for the excellent ANZAC biscuit cooking class. I know our international visitors had a wonderful time and will be talking very fondly about 暗夜成人视频 when they get home.
We dipped our toes into the world of arguments and sharp wit by joining the school's debating competition this term. I鈥檓 already looking forward to watching our team grow stronger in the debates ahead.
Despite the generous rain, it didn't dampen our spirits! In fact, our gardens have thrived.
Our College was proudly represented at the Toowoomba Show. Hats off to all who contributed their artwork and projects. Also, thanks to our cooking team who entered the burger making competition. What they created was very impressive.
Beyond our campus, our Ag team has been making waves in various regional shows, putting the spotlight on our students' dedication in agriculture. We couldn't be prouder of their achievements!
We can鈥檛 forget our Harmony Day celebrations. What a great day it was, filled with colours and cultures that truly represent 暗夜成人视频.
Your Invitation to the Twilight Tours
Our Twilight Tours will be held at the very start of Term 2. We would love to welcome as many families as possible to explore our College. Spread the word, and let's showcase what makes 暗夜成人视频 special! Please register via our website.
Our campus is transforming with the ongoing construction of our new building, and it's exciting to watch it come together. If you haven鈥檛 driven along South Street recently, I encourage you to drive past and take a look. This new space promises to be a terrific addition, and I can't wait to see it completed.
With Easter just around the corner, I want to wish each of you a joyful and restful holiday. To our dedicated staff that will be working over the break, a very big thank you for your hard work and commitment.
See you next term!
Warm regards,
Ms Belinda Sanders
Director of Marketing & Community Engagement
Autumn Leaves - Soloist Concert
The Autumn Leaves Solo Concert showcased many of our talented performers from across all three campuses on Thursday, 27 March. Being able to listen to the talents of our students in combination with the rain outside truly made for a magical atmosphere. We welcomed three debut performers to this concert who extended themselves into the performance world with confidence. Autumn Leaves was the 1st Concert in our Solo Concert series this year, please look out for the Term 2 Concert, I鈥檝e Got Chills, on 12 June.
Toowoomba Central Zone Swimming Wrap Up
Congratulations to the 24 暗夜成人视频 students that competed at the Toowoomba Central Swimming Trials at The Glennie School on Tuesday 18 February 2025.
This year saw a combination of both Central and West Zone schools compete at the one carnival, which was great for competition on the day.
Once again it was an impressive effort by all our athletes, with many achieving new personal best times. Many CLC students qualified in over 40 individual events with several missing out by the narrowest of margins. The qualifying students going on to represent the Toowoomba Central Zone Team at the Darling Downs Regional Swimming Championships in March in Gatton. The 暗夜成人视频 Team having supplied a major percentage of swimmers on the Central Zone Team. Great work to all involved in preparing our swimmers for this event.
A big thank you to Mrs Riehl and Mrs Weir for their smooth managing of the team on the day, having students ready to go for the races. Also, a big thank you to Troy Chandler from TJs, your assistance before and on the day with the team is appreciated as always.
This carnival has proved to be an excellent platform to start our 2025 representative carnivals and programs. It was also invaluable in the lead-up to the QCIS Carnival at Dalby, in which 暗夜成人视频 reigned supreme once again, defending its title for three years in a row. Well done to all concerned, and congratulations to our Central Zone representatives.
Central Zone representatives - Nate Adams, Miranda Cabuhug, Paul Mathews, Rylee Bennett, Douglas Plumb, Evangeline Dealtry, Arianwen Dealtry, Benji Chettle, Emily Gadsby, Josie Dignon, Torri Duffy and Thomas Richards.
From the recent Darling Downs Swimming Championship, it gives me much pleasure to announce that both Emily Gadsby and Douglas Plumb have been selected for the Darling Downs Team. This is a great reward for their hard work and efforts in this space. Further to this, a special mention to Douglas, who was named Age Champion from across the region, a fantastic achievement.
Cheers,
Mr Fry
Anastasia - The Musical
The time is fast approaching for our 2025 musical, ANASTASIA! Our students have been working very hard behind the scenes, and there's an exciting buzz in the air as music fills our campus. Be sure to mark your calendars and save the date鈥攜ou won't want to miss this!

As we come to the close of a very productive and exciting Term 1, we want to take a moment to reflect on the achievements we鈥檝e experienced together over the past 10 weeks. It has been a term filled with engaging teaching and fabulous learning all in the wake of a cyclone and some very unpredictable weather. We are proud of the efforts we鈥檝e seen across the Junior College, and there are many highlights from the 2025 year so far.
This term, our students have shown incredible resilience and dedication. We celebrated the success of our students at the Central Zone and QCIS Swimming events, where many of our swimmers demonstrated impressive skills and sportsmanship. A huge congratulations to everyone who participated! Another highlight this term was our Harmony Day picnic lunches at both Junior Campuses. This was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the diversity that makes our college so special. We鈥檝e also seen Year 5 and 6 students kick off their Friday interschool sports program. This competition has provided our students with the chance to build teamwork skills and forge new friendships with students from other schools as well as work on their skills in different sports.
A major milestone this term has been the commencement of Stage 1 of our new Junior College Precinct. It鈥檚 an exciting development for our college, and we look forward to seeing the building program progress over the coming months. We can鈥檛 wait to watch the transformation unfold and are looking forward to seeing the progress after we return from the holidays.
None of the successes of the last term would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our teachers and support staff for their unwavering commitment to supporting our students throughout the start of 2025. Their efforts ensure that every student鈥檚 experience is both positive and fulfilling.
Thank you to our parents for your continued support. Your partnership is vital in helping our Junior College thrive, and we are grateful for your involvement. Finally, to our students we are so proud of your hard work, enthusiasm, and determination. Great job!
As we head into the term break, we encourage everyone to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the holidays with your loved ones. We look forward to welcoming you back next term with the Inter House Cross Country being our first event. Third time lucky!!
Wishing you all a safe and relaxing break!

It feels like just yesterday I was grumbling about supermarkets stocking Hot Cross Buns mere days after Christmas, yet now Lent is racing by, and Easter is only two weeks away. But as always, the achievements at 暗夜成人视频 have come thick and fast this term.
Special mention must go to our Year 11 girls' volleyball team, who swept the Term 1 Interschool Volleyball Competition. Their dedication, teamwork, and skill were apparent for everyone to see, gaining a well-deserved victory. This win is a testament to the strength of our coaching program, which has seen student interest and dedication in this sport blossom over the past two years.
Our Agriculture program is also growing at an impressive rate. This term, we were able to launch our Cattle and Poultry Show teams, a significant step in our commitment to hands-on learning. Our students have grasped these opportunities eagerly, and their efforts will shine in Term 2 as we take part in local community events like the Haden and Goombungee Show and the Crows Nest Show. These experiences not only build practical skills but also reinforce our relationship with the wider farming community.
The buzz around Term 2 has already started, with the expectation of our school musical Anastasia heating up. The rehearsals are in full swing, and to make this production even more special, the smash hit Broadway show will be seen in Australian theatres later this year. Tickets will be up for sale early in Term 2鈥攎ark your calendars for 23-25 May so that you do not miss out on this wonderful experience!
Unfortunately, the weather hasn鈥檛 been on our side for the Cross Country this term. Despite our best efforts, we鈥檝e had to postpone twice, but we鈥檙e optimistic about kicking off Term 2 with this much-anticipated event on our first day back. Fingers crossed for clear skies. Running following an Easter chocolate binge is probably a good thing anyway!
Finally, I wish you all a blessed, happy and safe Easter holiday period. May this time of reflection on Christ鈥檚 sacrifice and resurrection bring a sense of renewal, hope, and peace. Meanwhile, we continue to pray for our Western Queensland brothers and sisters as they endure the hardship of the current floods.
Whether traveling away or locally, be safe and enjoy yourselves during this well-earned holiday. We look forward to welcoming you all back, refreshed and ready for an amazing Term 2.
Yours in faith

Boarding News
Hello to all our Boarding families
Ten Weeks! Term 1 鈥 2025 is done. Time has just flown by!
Our students have had a very triumphant term, starting the year on a very positive note. Our boarder team building day was a huge success for all those who participated. Friendships strengthened, new ones formed, and some tested. Seeing the support all of our students gave to their fellow peers was very uplifting.
Everyone experienced challenges outside their own comfort zones, trusted others to have their backs in times of need. Confidence was boosted and personal fitness tested. Lots of encouragement and advice was given and plenty of laughter and cheering was heard. Thank you to our supportive and devoted staff, what a fabulous day!
Anastasia - Rehearsals have been intense, and we are all excited to see this production, especially with our own group of boarders performing. The students have shown remarkable resilience and patience this term while coping with the cyclone and the constantly changing weekend plans due to the weather.
During the cyclone weekend, those who remained in boarding worked together to cook, clean, entertain, and ensure each other's safety.
This past week, we welcomed a group of Japanese students who stayed with us, providing an opportunity for cultural exchange, new friendships, and insights into different schooling experiences.
Regarding staff changes, we would like to bid farewell to Tutors Amaris and Olive, who are moving on to pursue other opportunities.
We have some great news for Term 2: Mr. Wally will be returning to spend weekends in boarding, and Miss Kerri will be supporting our students with tutoring four nights a week. Additionally, our 2024 Boarder Captain, Khan, has returned as a residential tutor while he studies at USQ to become a teacher.
Please treasure your time with your families and stay safe over the holidays. Take good care of one another!
See you all next term. Enjoy the photos.
